Day 13: Rocky Soil

Day 13: Rocky Soil

Today we’ll explore what rocky soil looks like. It’s important to note that again here, the Word was received with gladness. No one was trying to get rid of the seed, but there was a big problem! The soil was so full of rocks the seed couldn’t and a place to grow. The state of the ground hindered the ability of the seed to go down deep and take root. Was the seed good? Yes. Was the soil good? Yes, but only partially good. The soil that was available was good but there was too little of it. It lacked depth and it was full of rocks. This type of heart has a hard time letting things go. It’s crowded with all kinds of things; worry, fear, offense, pain, unbelief, etc. It receives the Word gladly but has no ability to apply what it says because other things crowd it out. Offense takes up precious space in our hearts. Think of all the time, energy and peace it requires to hold on to offense? I love the quote; “Life becomes easier when you learn to accept the apology you never got.” If you have hidden offense, it’s time to let go … It’s time to forgive. It’s time to pull some rocks out of your soil so God can grow the stuff you’ve been dreaming of.
