Day 8: The Soil

Day 8: The Soil

The honest and good heart is a heart that hears the Word of God, trusts the author and takes it in immediately. At the moment that heart receives the seed, it purposes to hold on to it, believing that with perseverance it will grow good fruit.

The Word of God that is planted in a hearing heart also grows faith. Faith is fruit that comes from hearing the word of God (“the spirit of Truth” as Jesus calls it in John 16) with an honest and good heart. Yesterday we explored the fact that God is responsible for the seed. He is the one who makes it and He is the one who plants.

So, what’s our responsibility when it comes to growth? The soil! Yep … it’s that simple! Without rich, soft, beautiful and nutritious soil the seed will die. It doesn’t matter how amazing the seed is; it’s impossible for it to grow without the proper environment.
